This is the photograph that taught me about going beyond photographing objects and things, and instead thinking about the essence of a place. After four days of storms on Isle Royale National Park, a 50-mile long island in Lake Superior, between Canada and the U.S., fog came in, the iris bloomed, and I stepped back just a little, to show the place.
