"I was invited to photograph #AlabamaShakes by their publicist and the team at the iHeartRadio Theater in NYC. It was a very intimate venue, with maybe 100 people in the crowd. I was told that it was an invite-only show,= that was also going to be livestreamed online. I was really excited to photograph them and especially to see them perform live. The PR team at the theater carved out a little spot on the side of the stage for me to shoot and also gave me a chance to shoot from the back of the theater. Shooting from the back of a venue is not ideal for a photographer because it’s usually so far from the stage. But in this case the venue was so small that it ended up being a great vantage point. Normally in concerts, they kick the photographers out after the first few songs, but the folks at the iHeartRadio Theater were nice enough to let me stay and watch the rest of the show."
