"I was supposed to shoot #JamesFranco with the cast of one of his films, but he showed up early, came into the room by himself and was just sitting there, so I pulled out my good old Mamiya RZ67 film camera and asked him if we could do some portraits on film that would be for me, rather than the film promotion. He agreed. I heard the publicist and cast coming so I knew I was about to get shut down. Not wanting to miss out on the opportunity, I knew I had to take the shot right there and then. I asked him to imagine something that I now like to leave to the viewer's imagination. I had two frames before we were cut off and this was one of them. Although very subtle, I love the expression on his face, because I feel like, in that split second, he really went somewhere in his head. A celebrity image is so often controlled, so I enjoy the moments when someone is willing to have fun with it. It is a little twist on a reality that is most often already a twist on reality."
