George Cook, my father, died 8 years ago today.
He was a boxer. In fact, he had a nightclub in Cambridge, MA called the One-Two Club later in his life.
He was a southpaw. I am too.
That means you're a lefty. But in boxing it means you have a strategic advantage basically because of the orthodox stance.
My pops told me as a kid when we would be "living room boxing" that we had the exact same jab / jab / cross.
He told me, "you're left comes out of the darkness."
True, dad, true.
That's why I like this photo. Look at that wide southpaw cross! Take a good look now because you won't see it coming later.
