"Big Daddy Kane was considered to be one of the most skilled emcees around, and also a striking-looking artist," said @janettephoto. In the late #1980s, Janette amassed a portfolio of pictures of budding New York #rap acts. For her, it was a labor of love. She collected the images in a book, using a photo from this 1988 shoot on the cover. "Back then," she told The Times, "there was not one thought in my mind #hiphop would become this massive thing."
