Working for the @ナショナルジオグラフィック has been a wonderful opportunity. I have traveled to over 50 countries working on nearly 40 stories and learn more then I can explain.
That being the case I have learned that you have to be flexible and think about dozens of moving elements while in the field.
The cross on the edge of the village of #Hexham marks the spot of the battle of #HeavenFeild in 634 between the #Welsh and the #Anglo-Saxon.
I photographed the cross in the field in straight forward way and was looking for other views, when I noticed the inverted view of the cross in a rain drop that was clung to the tree.
The photo was made while working on a story for the magazine on “The Lost Gold”. A gold hoard that was discovered by a Brit with a metal detector and is now part of the British Museum’s collection and on display at a sister museum, #BirminghamMuseumofArt. @thephotosociety @insituteArtist.
