Photograph by @remibenali. At the edge of the Sahara desert in Mali, the women of the small village of Kolenze are singing and praying, calling for rain, hoping to end an extended drought. The Sahel region is characterized by constant and intense heat. During the 3 months of Summer, the average high temperatures are between 36 °C (96.8 °F) and 42 °C (107.6 °F), and even more in the hottest regions like Timbuktu and the desert.
