Photograph by George Steinmetz @geosteinmetz These distinctive two-family brick houses on 68th Avenue and 68th Road in #Ridgewood, #Queens were built before World War I. Many were homes of German immigrants whom worked in nearby breweries and knitting factories. It’s estimated that before Prohibition, 10% of American beer came from #Brooklyn, and most of that from #Bushwick, within walking distance of the houses in this photograph.
