This is a window farm in a tiny New York apartment. Urban farmer Britta Riley grows vegetables in plastic bottles suspended inside her windows. Her soil-free system uses hydroponics—the science @NASA is experimenting with to grow food in space. A pump periodically sends a nutrient-rich solution to the top of the structure, and it trickles down through the roots of each plant.
