“#TheNational are one of my favorite active bands. There's just something about them. When I first heard 'Alligator' I nearly combusted, I felt like they'd been watching my life and writing beautiful songs about it. Shooting them was great, I'd been hanging with Trevor Powers from Youth Lagoon and he materialized in the pit and he was jumping around and loving it. He’d mentioned how nervous he was to meet them earlier. We were right under Matt Berninger, and I remember the lights were mostly black and white, which was kinda fitting, but then these rainbows washed over him and I made this picture.” As told to RS by photographer @jdspeakman
