Ready for school in Khotan, Xinjiang, China. Not exactly a candid moment, I confess. The girls were reading in the street as they waited for their school to open. But when I asked if I could photograph them they lined up straight as bowling pins. Must be some unwritten rule about having your picture taken in Western China. So I took their picture as they wished. It has been some years since and now I find I rather like their formal, orderly posing.
