Photo by @mattmoyerphoto (Matt Moyer) – A young desert elephant forages along the Ugab River near Brandberg Mountian in Namibia. Desert elephants, found only in Namibia and Mali, are not a unique species but have adapted to their arid environments. They have wider feet and thinner bodies than savanna elephants. Some conservationists estimate there are only about 100 desert elephants left in Namibia. I feel so lucky to have been able to photograph them while on assignment for National Geographic Traveler. @natgecreative #elephant #desert
