I agreed and decided to shoot the event in black and white. I love the opportunity to make images in intimate spaces. Joan’s energy lit up the crowd, inspired me and made for some very good images. The more chaotic and imperfect a situation gets, the more excited I am to photograph it. This image is an excellent example of a time that happened.”
