Dancing past the point of exhaustion and getting punched by a male model, all in todays installment of #SundayStories... Xx Sometimes the most grueling modeling jobs end up being the most rewarding. For @ElleUK's 25th anniversary a few years back I shot a special 25 page editorial and cover (that's a massive editorial, by the way!). It was the biggest and most expensive shoot they ever undertook, and the theme was based on an amazing 1960's #JaneFonda movie called "They Shoot Horses Don't They?". The film is set in the dark years of the 1930's depression when "dance marathons" became popular as a way for desperate people to compete for prize money. Sometimes these events would drag on literally for days in a row leaving the contestants nearly dead of exhaustion. For the Elle UK shoot we danced pretty much 8 hours a day for 3 days in a warehouse that was at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degree Celsius) in the middle of summer. This was method modeling at its finest!. By day 3 we were literally falling over from exhaustion, and at one point a male model accidentally full-on punched me in the jaw knocking me out! As I fell to the floor most people thought I was just acting, and the photographer kept shooting. Luckily my husband @jamesedwardconran, who was on set, knew I wasn't so he stopped the shoot and I woke up with him holding my head. Despite, or perhaps, because of this, the pictures came out amazingly and it remains one of my favorite editorials to date. ?
