This installment of my weekly #SundayStories is dedicated my dear friend @jpgaultierofficial? Jean Paul Gautlier doesn’t treat models like they’re just clothes hangers. He knows and uses the same posse of girls in his runway shows because he truly loves them. Usually fittings with designers are rushed and crazed because they are on a count down clock to showtime. When you go for a fitting with Mr. Gaultier, even the night before the show, he always has time to chat and to offer you sweets from a beautiful presentation that even Marie Antoinette would appreciate. Once when I was there, we went up to the rooftop of his atelier at sunset and ate cake. As we watched the sun go down we talked about my week and the inspiration for his latest collection (Jean Paul always has some huge and fascinating story behind his clothing). Ive always looked forward to my stops at JPG atelier. Paris is the final fashion week and so after New York, London and Milan I’d most certainly be tired, overworked and kind of frustrated, and then this nice, bubbly Frenchman is like, “Would you eat cake with me?”
