This #panda was a piece created by #KenWalker for the #WorldTaxidermyChampionships. The panda was created out of two #BlackBear skins, meaning that none of the fur is original. #KenWalker bleached one of the Black Bear skins in order to create the appearance of a panda over the skeleton of #HsingHsing, a Giant Panda who died in 1999. In 2003, Ken Walker won the title of Best in World Re-creation for this panda, causing quite the uproar by creating taxidermy from an endangered species, which was technically illegal to the competition, having circumvented the rules by using fur that wasn’t from the original animal.
