Today marks the 120th anniversary of the world famous #LondonTowerBridge, pictured here by @tnbiskitt. With the London East End population exploding in 1876, a decision was made to build another bridge, and with over 50 designs submitted, in 1884, architect Horace Jones's now iconic design was chosen. Construction cost £1,184,000 and took 432 men eight years to build. Ten men died while working on it. The bridge officially opened in 1894 and it remains to this day a key part of river life for the #Thames and it remains one of the most popular landmarks in our city. Happy birthday LTB! ??
