The legendary Lloy Ball is player/coach for Team Pineapple in the @USAPVL tournament here at the #USAVopen. Team Pineapple is comprised of mostly former IPFW players, the university in Fort Wayne where Lloy played for his father, Arnie, and where Lloy and the program rose to national prominence. Lloyd put the team together for three reasons: "One, we’re all good friends; two, to continue the legacy of IPFW volleyball and three, to represent our region (Hoosier). The four-time Olympian and gold medalist is a PVL ambassador. “I, of all people, understand the difficulty of starting a pro league here in America. I think (PVL President) Steve (Bishop) has done a nice job of, not even slowly, but quickly, growing the PVL this year to 12 teams and I think we can do even more to get more regions involved.” The team is 3-1 in a tough division. “These guys have been training with me for three months. I’m not the kind of guy who is going to play all the time and let someone sit on the bench, so last night in our second match, other guys played and it didn’t work out … but to fly all the way to Arizona and not get to play, doesn’t seem right to me. We’re a family; we’re going to win or lose together.” #humansofvb
