Sled dogs harnessed near the North Pole howl for their mushers to finish lunch and get moving. While photographing Will Steger's epic crossing of the Arctic Ocean in 1995, the dogs seemed like they had watches. All twenty canines from three teams would simultaneously howl like factory whistles for one minute at precisely 8:25am (minutes before the daily schedule to load the sleds), and 12:25pm, right at the end of lunch.
