This is a crap day. That's right. Pictured above is me being harassed by airport security (as usual). I know they are only doing their jobs but seriously - if you're doing a full bag search, why not show the traveler (who is obviously already stressed and about to miss their flight) a little respect? I travel for a living and am very aware that you are not allowed to bring liquids on planes but apparently there was a tiny bottle of grapefruit seed oil, 15 ml, hiding in a compartment in my bag. I did not know this and when he starts ripping my clothes and personal belongings out of the bag I tell him "please, I have dirty laundry in here, could you do this on the table behind you?" (in which case my underwear would not have been displayed to every passenger moving through security). "No" was the answer I got, and he continued to pour the entire content of my bag out on the table and then one by one check for...... Liquids? Weapons? Grapeseed oil!? I don't know. It was humiliating. Next time I'll swim to Ireland and put my single tiny bottle of healing oil in a zip lock so they don't mistake me for a terrorist. We get to Heathrow Airport and get picked up by a car service who has clearly never been to London before. It took us 2 hours to get to the city, and after circling the same block for 45 minutes and the driver was still refusing to ask for directions or call the hotel I simply got out of the car. In the hotel at last, they can't find our reservation. When they finally do, they give is our keycards and we open the door... To someone else's room. Back down to the lobby - oops, seems like your reservation was made for May and there is no room for you here! How fun! Finally in a room that doesn't have other people in it I write this rant and think I probably shouldn't post it. Where is the inspiration in this? What wisdom am I conveying? None. I'm complaining over one difficult day during my travels when fact of the matter is I'm doing what I love, living my dream. I sound ungrateful. I'm not. I miss my home and my doggies right now and maybe, just maybe it's ok to be a real person with a crap day just like everybody else.
