Here is another winning photo from the Bureau of Land Management - Nevada’s (@MyPublicLands) photo contest, which is helping to celebrate Nevada’s 150th birthday next year. This photo was taken by Michael Balen at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Here’s what he had to say about the photo. "I took the photo because of the intense profusion of wildflowers that bloomed in the area during spring 2013. The time of day offered low-angle sunlight and nearly perfect lighting and contrast conditions. The clouds added to the scene and the illumination of the Sheep Range in the background added to the sense of place. I was attempting to emphasize the contrast between the concept of the dry, brown desert and the unusual occurrence of abundant wildflowers in a place most people think of as generally devoid of life."
