The ever curious watch of a walrus just beneath the surface in the Barents Sea at 81 degrees north. Shot on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック in #FranzJosefLand #Russia. This little archipelago of 191 islands lays 800 miles north of the Arctic Circle and hosts one of the most pristine intact ecosystems on earth. NG Explorer in Residence #EnricSala led the expedition with his #pristineseas crew to create a scientific baseline from which future changes can be observed and compared.
