#heros Pete Athans. For years, Pete cycled thru the #himalaya and greater range as an alpinist, at one point holding a record for most non-Sherpa ascents of #Everest. He was instrumental in the rescue efforts during the '96 tragedy, a mirror action of his kind spirited nature. More recently, Pete's efforts have been directed towards humanitarian and scientific efforts throughout the Nepal including The Magic Yeti libraries that he's worked to install with his wife, filmmaker Liesl Clark and their two awesomely free range kids. Pete has also been instrumental in the Khumbu Climbing Center in Phortse, and has been the mastermind behind an ongoing project to explore and document the cave systems if mustang (featured in @ナショナルジオグラフィック oct 2012) Thanks Pete for showing how impactful and far reaching passion can be...thanks for inspiring me and so many others to keep crushing...and when one form of crushing wanes, thanks for teaching lessons in graceful shapeshifting...you're a badass.
