On Feb. 14, 1962, Jacqueline Kennedy gave the first broadcast tour of the White House, offering the public a glimpse of the historic home that had just undergone a $2 million restoration project. Jacqueline narrated a brief history of the White House, taking audiences from the home’s original construction that started in 1792 through its various iterations, rebuilds and former inhabitants. Most estimates show that the hour-long broadcast was viewed by 80 million people.

Pablo Larraín’s ‘Jackie,’ released on this day seven years ago, received Oscar nominations for Actress in a Leading Role (Natalie Portman), Costume Design (Madeline Fontaine) and Original Score (Mica Levi).
