Kathryn Bigelow made history at the 82nd Academy Awards when she became the first woman to win Best Director for the 2009 war movie ‘The Hurt Locker.’

The film also won the Oscars for Best Picture, Original Screenplay (Mark Boal), Film Editing (Chris Innis and Bob Murawski), Sound Editing (Paul N. J. Ottosson), and Sound Mixing (Paul N. J. Ottosson and Ray Beckett) and received nominations for Actor in a Leading Role (Jeremy Renner), Cinematography (Barry Ackroyd), and Original Score (Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders).
