The 2,000-Year-Old Giant Camphor Tree at Furogu Shrine Is a Sight to Behold!🌲😮
Located in Okawa, Furogu Shrine has a history of around 1,800 years. It is said to have been established after Empress Jingu, the 14th Japanese imperial ruler, met a white heron on her way back from a foreign campaign. The heron was believed to be the incarnation of a deity, and a shrine was built near the camphor tree where it had perched.⛩️
On the grounds of Furogu Shrine is an approximately 2,000-year-old giant camphor tree where the white heron was said to have perched. The tree has an impressive presence, with its huge trunk boasting a circumference of over 8 meters, while its branches stretch out 20-30 meters in all directions!✨
