'OYAMA: Hanging Pool' is a human-made work, where flora and fauna intertwine as the artist's palette and material. At its heart lies a serene pond teeming with native Japanese kili fish known as "medaka," imparting both literal and figurative motion. The amalgamation of verdant plant life, vibrant moss, and living, breathing organisms not only forges a connection between the artist and the natural world but also invites the observer to contemplate the delicate dance of existence. Comprising an assortment of indigenous woods, lush greens, and ferns sourced from Japanese mountainsides, its appellation, 'OYAMA,' is an homage to mountains and nature. TSUBAKI was established in 2014 and creates site-specific botanical installations. In botanical terms, "Tsubaki" is the Japanese name for Camellia japonica, a species of flowering plant native to Japan.
