#Jaipur, also known as the Pink City, is a vibrant and culturally rich city that offers a unique blend of history, art, and architecture. With its magnificent forts, palaces, temples, and colorful bazaars, it is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to #India.

Here are 6 interesting facts about Jaipur you might not know:

1. Jaipur was founded during the reign of Maharaja Jai Singh on November 18, 1727, and took about four years to complete. Maharaja Jai Singh employed proficient architects in planning the city. Jaipur was the first "planned city" in India.

2. In 1876, the Prince of Wales and Queen Victoria came to visit Jaipur. Maharaja Ram Singh, who ruled Jaipur at the time, decided to welcome his guests by coloring every building in Jaipur pink. In India, pink is traditionally the color associated with hospitality and vibrancy.

3. It is home to 3 forts (Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort, and Nahargarh Fort) and more than 5 palaces. Hawa Mahal (which means "Palace of Winds") is a unique tower palace in Jaipur. The palace has 953 windows, which allows the wind to blow inside and keep it cool. Jal Mahal is another popular palace, which is located in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake and is more than half-submerged in water. At first glimpse, it gives you the illusion that it is floating atop the lake.

4. Jaipur has many famous temples. One of these is renowned due to its monkeys. The Galtaji Monkey Temple is built in a forested and hilly region 10 km from Jaipur, and a water spring flows from the top of the hill and collects in seven pools around the temple. It makes the entire temple a very calm, peaceful, and relaxing tourist spot.

5. Jaipur is one of the largest producers of gemstones in the world, particularly of high-quality colored stones such as emeralds, rubies, and sapphires. The Johari Bazaar is a popular destination for buying gemstone jewelry.

6. Jaipur hosts the world's largest free literary fest (named Jaipur Literature Festival) every January. It is attended by poets, authors, artists, and literary giants from all over the world.
