She joined the organization in 2015 as a human resources intern and today serves as a senior associate on our brand marketing team. 👏🏽👏🏽  In the middle of her Red Cross career, Isabella was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Nausea, brain fog, severe pain and fatigue all made it challenging for her to feel like herself and show up in the way that she wanted.  “I felt like I had to reintroduce myself, not just to myself, but to the world," Isabella said.   About a year ago, Isabella decided to join the Ability Network Resource Group, a supportive space for people with disabilities and their allies within the Red Cross to come together. This community not only helped her connect with people going through similar experiences, but also allowed her to pay it forward as a mentor. Today, she serves as a co-chair of the group.   "I’ve had so many people stand by my side and give me opportunities even when I wasn’t in my healthiest state," Isabella said. "That’s why allyship is so important.”  Isabella is in remission, but knows this could change at any moment. Thankful for the Ability Network and her support system at work and at home, she continues to advocate for a better future for everyone at the Red Cross and those we serve.  “In my work, accessibility comes up every day," said Isabella. "We need to keep the momentum and conversation going, and I think that we will.”  We are so grateful to have forward-thinking, innovative team members like Isabella who strive to make the Red Cross more inclusive.
