Hidden beneath the surface of this New Mexico park are more than 119 caves with gigantic subterranean chambers, fantastic formations and extraordinary features. The most famous of the park's mammals are the bats. The park hosts 17 different bat species, including a large colony of Brazilian free-tailed bats that wow visitors every evening from spring through fall with spectacular flights out of the caves.
