🕸️ Fake cob webs may be just a bit of hocus pocus fun, but did you know that critically endangered Regent Honeyeaters and many other native species use real spider webbing to build their nests? 🕸️
Halloween coincides with breeding and nest building season for many native birds around Australia. Unfortunately, the synthetic webbing is incredibly dangeous, resulting in entanglement, broken legs/wings, and compaction from ingestion, all which can result in death ☠️
This year, let’s not see Halloween through with this scary outcome, consider more environmentally and wildlife friendly decorations instead 🎃
