Meet Rosita, Sesame Steet’s first Mexican American and bilingual Muppet resident. After joining her pals on “Sesame Street” in 1991, Rosita has established herself as a good friend who loves to play guitar, learn about history, and share about her Mexican American heritage.
Rosita was originally designed with wings, seen here, which referenced Mexican fruit bats. In later seasons, the wings were removed only to be added back on in 2021. Rosita’s “Muppeteer” is Carmen Osbahr, who has been bringing Rosita and other Muppets, to life for over 30 years. Our puppet, in the collection of our @国立アメリカ歴史博物館, was used in production of “Sesame Street” in the late 1990s.
