What the fox?

Big-eared, red-haired, long-legged, the maned wolf is unlike any other canid species—literally. With a very misleading name and appearance, maned wolves look like a red fox on stilts, but they’re actually not related to foxes or wolves at all. They’re the largest canid species in South America, belonging to a genus all its own: Chrysocyon.
