‘Assertive sophistication’ is how @anthonyvaccarello described his latest collection for Saint Laurent, shown in Paris yesterday evening and inspired by pioneering female aviators Amelia Earhart and Adrienne Bolland.

From flight suits to cargo pants and a riff on Yves Saint Laurent’s original safari jacket, it was a collection which saw the designer soften the amplified silhouette of recent seasons in a move towards simplicity and pragmatism – nonetheless infused with the insouciant sophistication which has become Vaccarello’s signature at @サンローラン.
