This sport can often be incredibly exclusive and hierarchical, it’s simply the nature of the beast. That being said, returning to the ice should be for YOU and you alone. To take that step requires unapologetic confidence, something we aren’t often given the space to take up, but baby, fake it till you make it! It does not matter if you are a synchro, single, pairs, dancer, or just for fun doing whatever skater. You belong. What you put out onto the ice is valuable- because it’s yours. You make that time into whatever you need it to be. Want to just go skate some laps? Fierce. Go get on a public session and just skate. Want to pass some dance tests? WEEERRKK! Look into local coaches who work with adults. Have no idea where to start? That’s okay! I’ve got guides online @thefigureskatingclub club, @skateandsculpt has fantastic classes and community to get you going or you can join programs like American Ice Theater, or call your local rink and ask about adult sessions. Either way- you belong. Your skating matters. I’m proud of you for even thinking about getting back into it.
