ナイジェラ・ローソンさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ナイジェラ・ローソンInstagram)「I’ve been back from beautiful Skye for a week now, and still haven’t posted about the wonderful @thethreechimneysskye. I actually sat down to do it the other night, and found I’d written nearly 2,000 words of praise and gratitude, which obviously was way beyond allowable caption length. So here's the very much truncated version, which still needs to be spread over three posts, not helped by the fact that I was too absorbed in eating and having a good time, I scarcely took any photos, so my first post has had to be illustrated with a pic I nabbed off their insta! I booked a couple of months in advance – and just as well I did: although my holiday was not in high season, it was already almost completely booked up for the week I’d be there. But as much as I’d looked forward to it, as the date grew nearer, trepidation set in. The thing is, the words “Fine Dining” always sound more like a threat than a gracious invitation to me; I find formality oppressive, and fancy-pants food all-too-often joyless. But I felt all anxiety dissipate the minute I entered the small, simple room. I relaxed immediately: no evidence of stuffiness or self-congratulary superiority, just lovely people making us feel welcome. Look, I know restaurants are about the food, but not exclusively so: restaurants are about food *and* people. The manager and head sommelier @dannylums and his colleagues @ionaann, @oliviadewar @tallulah.toms made us feel so welcome, knew so much about the food, the wines, the whiskies, seemed so happy to be part of this whole venture, that I immediately knew we were in safe hands – and it is the most wonderful feeling. Immediately, I felt in expansive mode, ready to have a great time, in accordance with which I had a whisky sour to start, made – at Iona’s suggestion – with @raasaydistillery whisky, since I’d told her it was one I’d never tried, and it was the best whisky sour I’ve ever had (thank you, Tallulah) ! I wish I’d taken a photograph of its beauty to show you and, even more than that, I wish I’d ordered two when I had the chance.
