I had just moved to New York City the week before, having only recently fully owned up to my desire to become a professional actor. Guided by the indomitable Zelda Fichandler and the faculty at @nyugradacting, we fledgling storytellers huddled together as we watched the news on tv and, looking downtown from the roof of our 8th street building, watched the towers fall. In the days that followed, my resolve to tell stories only deepened; I knew that, no matter how scared we might be, we needed to carry the message. Zelda said, “There is a hunger to see the human presence acted out. As long as that need remains, people will find a way to do theater.” We need storytellers- real, human storytellers, not just the innovative methods of AI.
