I cut my hairrrrr 🥹💇🏽‍♀️
I grew up in my moms salon where I watched her create beautiful styles on, and confidence in women. Through that experience I’ve seen hair as a woman’s crown and taken so much pride in the health of my hair. I started in the industry wearing weaves but my leave out got so damaged I chopped my hair. I cried at 22 cutting my own hair in the bathroom. All the damage from being on sets and backstage with hairdressers who weren’t familiar with my hair texture putting heat on wet curls, blow drying on high, and not knowing how to work with black hair. I decided to switch to wigs.
I absolutely love wigs. I could have looks created that were needed for my job while protecting and maintaining my hairs health. I’ve been known for some of my favourite looks that are regularly requested of me in jobs; black extra long middle part & curly with beachy blonde highlights. And I still love them! They’re right there in my wig closet when I need them ;)
This year I thought “You know what! Imma have fun with my hair. I don’t care about damage I want the LOOK MAMA!” I did weaves, ponytails, the works.
Being a model consists of being a canvas for someone else’s art and I feel releasing the bond I’ve had to my hair is something that frees me as a canvas. Who knows? Maybe I’ll go shorter 🤔 or a designer asks me to do colour? Wherever my hair journey takes me, I want it to be filled with fun 💗💇🏽‍♀️👩🏾👱🏾‍♀️👩🏾‍🦰🧑🏾‍🦲👩🏽‍🦳👩🏽‍🦱 beauty in within the eye of the beholder, and whatever comes next I’m down :)
