"On this particular night, the conditions were perfect, a cloudless night with no moon and virtually no wind, the perfect combination for Astro Photography. I didn't have any compositions in mind and navigating the rocky terrain at night in Bombo can be quite tricky and without the proper footwear can be dangerous. Luckily, I had some help from the passing fisherman who lit up the scene providing some direction and helping me locate a composition. So, with that, I proceeded to set up my camera and use Photo Pills to give me a good idea of where the Milkyway will be rising and at what time in relation to the scene I was planning to photograph. For this composition, I wanted to get the beautiful reflections of the stars in the water including the amazing shadows of the Basalt Columns found scattered across Bombo. With the foreground completed, I had to wait for about an hour for the Milkyway to rise and be in the right position just behind the Basalt Columns. The Nikon Z 7II has made my workflow for astrophotography so much easier. The focus to infinity when the Z 7II is turned on is such a time saver as I don't need to worry about focusing on stars when on location and the extended shutter allows me to take long exposures for my foreground without the need of an external intervalometer."
