Social media channels close to Wagner said that Russian air defenses had shot down the plane, which was one of several aircraft owned by Prigozhin.⁠ ⁠ Wagner’s owner, a one-time caterer and confidant of President Vladimir Putin, launched a mutiny in June, taking over the southern city of Rostov and marching on Moscow as he demanded the ouster of Russia’s defense minister and the chief of general staff.
