A bear being transported on an Iraqi Airways flight from Baghdad to Dubai caused delays after it escaped from a crate in the cargo hold.

The bear was sedated by a specialist team in Dubai and taken off the plane, Iraqi Airways said in a statement shared with CNN.

Iraqi Airways issued an apology the day after, and did not reveal why the bear was being transported to the United Arab Emirates, or provide any information on its well-being after it was sedated and taken off the plane.
