Petra is a well-known archaeological site situated in the southwestern desert of Jordan. It dates back to approximately 300 B.C. and served as the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. To reach Petra, you must pass through a narrow canyon known as Al Siq. Inside, you’ll find tombs and temples intricately carved into cliffs made of pink sandstone, which gives Petra its nickname, the “Rose City.” Among its remarkable structures, the most famous is the 45-meter-tall Al Khazneh. This temple showcases an elaborate facade in the Greek style and is commonly referred to as The Treasury.
