At @トム・ブラウン’s inaugural Couture collection presented at Paris’ Palais Garnier – “for one night only” – the American designer presents a twist on classic sportswear through the lens of couture.

Presented to a fake audience of 2,000 onlookers in Thom Browne uniforms and black sunglasses which fill the seats of the opera house, the collection sees solo travellers traversing a station platform. Passengers enter decked in looks of various shades of grey with exaggerated silhouettes. Extravagant tailoring is accented with clusters of beading and sequins, and looks inspired by pigeons tip-toe across the runway. The train finally arrives, but in the form of a sheer white dress that trails ten feet behind.

“Paris is this city that embraces true fashion, true conceptual ideas. It’s really the most important reason I moved,” Browne told AnOther in 2018. “I think fashion is cultural in Paris.”
