Beginning with the unfurling of a large roll of pleated paper at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs, followed by on-stage dressing, the show reflects the philosophy of the designer who believed clothes should be adaptable and liberating.

“I want women to be able to wear my clothes in the kitchen, when they’re pregnant,” Miyake told @susannahfrankel for The Guardian Weekend in July 1997. “My clothes are for the young, for the old, for the short, for the tall. They’re ageless.”
