The lifestyle swap was an easy one, considering what they found—a private refuge, surrounded by old-growth redwoods. “It’s one of the most extraordinary residential properties I’ve ever seen in the Bay Area,” their designer, Noz Nozawa (@noznozawa), says—so she wanted to make an outdoor lounge to suit. “This redwood deck was grandfathered in, but for today’s standards you’d never be allowed to build one like this,” Nozawa says. “We just left it alone and didn’t even paint it out of respect for the fact that environmentally it isn’t something the township would want or allow anymore.” The sectional and chair are from RH, Restoration Hardware, and the cocktail tables are from @bludot.
