Salvin’s albatross like this one @elparquedelasleyendas are large seabirds that forage over most of the southern Pacific Ocean. Because these birds spend so much time at sea, they have developed special adaptations to help them survive. One such feature is a salt gland that is situated above each bird’s nasal passage. This gland excretes a saline solution, removing salt from the large amounts of seawater the birds consume.
