However, I’ve been struggling internally with the political climate of certain destinations that are criminalizing my existence and usurping the rights of childbearing people. I’m a native Texan with family in this state; I don’t want to turn my back and avoid visiting. I also can’t avoid the reality of what is happening here. I have decided that with every visit, I will donate to organizations that are fighting for queer, trans, and women’s rights. This week, as I visit my dad during Father’s Day, I’ve chosen to donate to @equalitytexas and @fundtexaschoice. My goal is to turn the fear and dread I feel for my home state (and others) into action. If you’re in a similar position, I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you work through these feelings.
