If you’re concerned about heavy metal intake (which you should be), you probably limit your fish consumption due to the mercury content. But did you know that many other foods contain heavy metals that exceed safe limits?

Protein powders, especially plant-based ones like rice protein concentrate, contain lead, cadmium, and arsenic.

If you don’t carefully source your chocolate, it likely contains high levels of lead and cadmium.

Kale is exceptionally good at taking up thallium from the soil.

Heavy metals such as arsenic, antimony, lead, and cadmium can leach into the drinking water supply from plumbing lines, mining operations, refineries, and municipal waste disposal.

Brown rice contains about 80% more arsenic than white rice. Rice takes up arsenic from the soil and concentrates it in the outer layer. The Bulletproof Diet recommends white rice over brown rice – because the outer layer is removed.
