The tropical forests of Indonesia are being destroyed at an alarming rate due to massive illegal logging and clearing for palm oil plantations. This is causing incalculable losses in terms of biodiversity and is pushing the critically endangered orangutan ever closer to extinction. Through our Orangutan Legacy Forest Reforestation Project, OFI has planted over 880,000 trees to restore and regenerate areas of the Orangutan Legacy Forest destroyed by forest fires caused by land clearing/deforestation.
