In the opening scene of @vedranrupic’s début short film, “The Diamond,” a lonely man tells the strangers in an elevator that he has herpes. Things go downhill from there. He does not, in fact, have herpes—it is fake. He also doesn’t have a friend, or a lover, or any idea how to acquire either one. At the link in our bio, watch the full film, which uses magical realism, existential bleakness, deadpan humor, and mood-leavening music to create something that feels surprising and new.
